So why I don’t I start this blog off with a little bit of history. The picture of that gorgeous couple on the top right hand side of the page is Leigh and I. We have been together for a little over a year and been engaged since August 2007. I think if I had asked you to put two total opposites together, you could not of even come up with Leigh and I. We come from totally different upbringings and at certain times if you asked either one of us, we might of said that one of us comes from a whole different planet. Let me give you the skinny on Leigh and I.
Cord
I grew up in a suburb right outside of Philadelphia. My family is and I was raised Jewish, but to be honest, none of it really caught on with me. After high school, I went to college in New York at Hofstra University and after school moved into New York City. After many years in NYC, I moved out to Austin, Texas for work where I lived for several years and then moved back to NYC again. Finally, just by chance, I ended up in Raleigh, North Carolina where I presently live and work today. Because I was “born up north” many North Carolinians including my fiance and all of her family, I am a “yankee”. Even worse, since I moved from up north to down here, I now am considered a “damn yankee”.
Leigh
My wife to be grew up in Newport, NC which I believe the town’s motto is, “Newport, NC, where the men are big and the cows are nervous.” Her upbringing included her Primitive Baptist church and being taught how to hunt, fish and that all yankees are the devil. Unbelievably enough, upon graduating from high school, Leigh actually moved three whole hours away from the family and attended NC State where she received a BS as well as an MBA. My baby ain’t no dummy. During her MBA studies, Leigh’s life took a turn for the worst. While she was working for a company in Morrisville, NC, she had an incredibly traumatic experience - She met me!!!
Leigh and I worked together for over three years. We were friends, co-workers and most importantly, for a decent portion of that time, I was her boss. She hates when I bring that up. Right before I ended up leaving that company, Leigh and I began dating. And to both of our surprises, I think more her than me, we actually hit it off and after a period of time we fell in love. Awwwwwww….
That is pretty much the quick version of Leigh and I. No worries, I promise to fill you in on all the fabulous details as we go.
